DJ Elitrax

Jonathan Block, known by his alias Elitrax, is an electronic music producer, DJ, and bassist based in the New York City area. His music blends elements of progressive house, trance, dance pop, and alternative house. He began playing classical piano at age four and started studying electric jazz bass at thirteen. Inspired by artists like Zedd, The Chainsmokers, Audien, Tritonal, Louis The Child, Grey, and Avicii, Jonathan is currently working on various remixes of both his favorite tracks and trending songs on social media, as well as a personal project set for late spring. In his free time, he enjoys cooking Indian food, playing softball, throwing a frisbee, and studying birds and plants.

Simone Baron and Ljova

DC-based composer, accordionist, pianist and improvisor SIMONE BARON joins the New York-based composer and fadolínist LJOVA for a duo set at Dear Mama, focusing on their original music with influences from klezmer to the music of Brazil, to John Cage and beyond.   

SIMONE BARON is a polyglot pianist, accordionist, improviser and composer whose work engages curiously and charismatically with a broad spectrum of idioms. Educated at Oberlin and joyfully de-educated at festivals and performances across Europe and the Americas, Simone has won grants, fellowships and residencies from Chamber Music America, South Arts, Maryland State Arts Council, the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, the Hambidge Center, Sacatar Foundation, iPark, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Strathmore Foundation, ArtOMI, UMD, Avaloch Farm, the Banff Centre, and Spectrum Toronto. In 2016 Simone founded Arco Belo, a diasporic chamber music ensemble. Simone is a Victoria Artist and plays a Poeta XB Accordion, and is a founding member of the Boulanger Initiative. https://simonebaron.com

LJOVA (Lev Zhurbin) was born in Moscow, Russia, and moved to New York with his parents, composer Alexander Zhurbin and writer Irena Ginzburg, in 1990. He divides his time between composing for the concert stage, contemporary dance & film, leading his own ensemble LJOVA AND THE KONTRABAND, performing with and composing for TRIO FADOLÍN, as well as a busy career as a violist, fadolínist & musical arranger. Among recent projects is a film score for the National Geographic, commissions from the City of London Sinfonia, The Louisville Orchestra, a new work for Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, a string quartet for Brooklyn Rider, a clarinet quintet for Art of Élan, and works for The Knights, Sybarite5 and A Far Cry, as well arrangements for the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, tenor Javier Camarena, conductors Gustavo Dudamel and Alondra de la Parra, songwriters Ricky Martin, Natalia Lafourcade and Carlos Vives, composer/guitarist Gustavo Santaolalla and Osvaldo Golijov. Zander Knodt is a New York-based pianist and composer whose broad musical influences range from Bach and Chopin to Bob Dylan, Keith Jarrett, and Herbie Hancock. Growing up in the outskirts of Seattle, Washington, Zander has performed throughout the West Coast as a sideman and bandleader. In NYC, Zander plays with various groups and leads his own solo piano projects.

Enter The Fadolín: Ljova

Ljova's solo project, "Enter The Fadolín" introduces a new instrument into the classical cannon -- the fadolín –– that combines the range of the violin, viola and most of the cello, in one unique sonority.  Ljova establishes a context by presenting music by Bach (originally written for the keyboard), his Irish contemporary Turlough O'Carolan (originally performed on the folk harp), a theme by Dvorak originally written for the orchestra, and some pieces written especially for this unique, haunting new instrument, by Ljova himself.

Alexandra Ridout

UK trumpeter Alexandra Ridout is a Trumpeter, bandleader, composer and educator based in Harlem NYC.

Alexandra received the BBC Young Musician Jazz Award 2016, British Jazz Awards ‘Rising Star’ 2018, was named one of ‘London’s Most Influential People’ under 25 in 2019, a Parliamentary Jazz Awards nominee 2020, won the Laurie Frink Career grant in 2022, received ‘Best Soloist’ at the ‘Keep an Eye International Jazz Award 2023’, won 2nd place at the Prestigious Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet competition 2023 and recently won the the Next Jazz Legacy award through New Music USA.

Alex is joined by long time collaborator Miles Mindlin on guitar, an award winning virtuoso Jazz Guitarist and composer. They will be playing their own original music.

Bacchantae participates in a wide range of events during the academic year ranging from fundraisers, female leadership conferences, their own concerts, and Barnard College's commencement at Radio City Music Hall. Not only is Bacchantae committed to their music and performance, but they are also a family that love to spend time together outside of rehearsal.
